Editorial standards

What we publish, how we assess software, and the limits of what we claim to know.

What we publish

ProcessMgr publishes two titles. Process Daily covers the practice of improving processes: methods, metrics and worked examples. Process Reviews covers the software used to map, model and simulate those processes.

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and each writer keeps to one beat, so the reading on a subject stays consistent from piece to piece.

How we compare software

Our comparisons are built from published documentation, product materials and pricing pages, dated at the time of writing. We do not claim hands on testing of every product we cover, and we do not write as though we have run software that we have not run. That statement appears on every review, not only here.

Where a capability cannot be established from a public source, we say so and the entry reads not stated. We do not guess, and we do not record missing evidence as a missing feature.

One rubric, applied the same way

Every product covered on Process Reviews is scored against the same published rubric, at the same weights, whoever writes the review. Each score is shown broken down by criterion rather than reduced to a single number, so a reader who weighs things differently can still use our findings.

Claims carry a source and a date

Software changes, and a review that does not say when it was written is worth very little. Every factual claim about a product carries a source and the date we checked it, and every review carries the date it was last verified. When a vendor changes something material, we check the review again rather than leave an old reading in place.

Pricing

Most vendors in this category do not publish prices. Where a price is published, we cite it and link to it. Where it is not, we say plainly that it is not published, and any figure reported elsewhere is attributed to whoever reported it rather than presented as fact.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, write to us and we will fix it. Corrections are made on the page itself and noted there, so the record shows what changed rather than quietly replacing it. Write to [email protected].

Advertising and paid placement

We do not present anything paid for as editorial. If a placement is paid, it is labelled as paid, on the page where it appears.

Independence

Some vendors covered on our titles are commercial partners of the publisher. That relationship is set out in full on the disclosure page, and it does not change how any product is scored.
